| Etrennes This is a replica, all handmade and designed by the artist, of a "First Day Gift". A First Day Gift is a French tradition from the late 1800's known as an Etrennes. Samples for these can be found in the book Etrennes, French Nineteenth Century Holiday Dolls and Playthings by Florence Theriault. This 1" scale Etrennes has a removable lid to reveal a little blue silk French Day bed, two slipper chairs, lamp, flowers and an exotic cheetah. After the little dollhouse girls finish playing it can be refolded and tucked safely in a corner ready for the next days playtime.
